Who is Kirk Hylan

…and why did he write this book?

Kirk Hylan is not a scientist or a climatologist. He’s an IT guy who has worked in the field of Corporate Information Technology for over 35 years. Here, he explains what drove him to write this book.

“The problem-solving skills in my field require that one place themselves in the future and work backwards to determine what needs to be put in place in the present, and at the milestones, as we move forward in order to make sure the systems never go down.  This approach has been applied to the system known as ‘Human Civilization’ with the mandate that our species can perpetuate on Planet Earth and fulfill Dr. Stephen Hawking’s declaration that we colonize other planets in our future.”

Alarmed by what he saw going on with climate change, Kirk put his subconscious mind to work.

He knew there had to be a solution, he just didn’t know what it was at the time. Certainly, the “experts” hadn’t come up with it, and there were so many climate change deniers in spite of the drastic reports.

One night, Kirk was awakened at 3am; he bolted out of bed and paced the floor, his loyal black lab watching him. That’s when the solution presented in this book was born. What followed was a cathartic 10 year journey of writing, rewriting, and editing until this important non-fiction work was ready for publishing.

"So, if we know exactly what our future looks like – for the first time in human history – why wouldn’t we do something about it now?”

– Kirk Hylan

“To summarize what I’ve presented in this book, there are a finite and limited number of inputs to the equation called Earth. The stepping stones articulated here are countermeasures to the threats to our survival as a species. These steps will become inevitable at some point in the near future, based on our current priorities.

Setting our prime directive on survival will become the first time in human history that the exchange of goods and services for profit will no longer dictate our emotional pathology.

One activity defines the survival of business and the other mandates the business of survival. Survival and profiteering are discrete endeavors by definition. Evolution via a sophisticated, thoughtful plan for future generations can avoid the bloodshed that occurs when political or economic exploitation reaches an expiration date.”

"If Earth Could Speak" is unique in that it defines, with exacting precision, the actions and steps we must take now to set the table for the survival of our species.

“Thanks for your consideration of the ideas contained in my first book. What differentiates it is that there are many, many people saying we should do something to change the course of human history, but this is the first book to chart the course. Most importantly, the action items contained here are steps that we will inevitably have to execute upon in order to save the planet and future generations.

So, if we know exactly what our future looks like – for the first time in human history – why wouldn’t we do something about it now?”
